About Gum Grafting

Do you have receding, uneven or imperfect gums? Have you been told you suffer from periodontal gum disease? Gum grafting is an excellent treatment option that can actually restore lost gum tissue. Tissue is taken from other areas in the mouth, including the top, bottom and even around the teeth. Once restored, your gums will look, function and feel better.

Is Gum Grafting Painful?

During gum grafting treatment, we make sure to use anaesthetic so that none of our patients experience discomfort or pain during the procedure. Following your gum grafting procedure you should however expect some swelling and discomfort. You should expect to be completely healed within one to two weeks.

Gum Grafting Recovery

As mentioned above, some swelling, discomfort and pain is expected following your gum grafting treatment. You will receive post-op instructions from your dentist and we recommend following them as it can aid in your recovery. Although each patient is different, you should be completely healed within two weeks, if not please let us know.

Who Needs Gum Grafting?

Did you know that receding gums can impact more than your appearance? Your gums and other tissues actually help hold your teeth into place. Patients that neglect to treat receding gums and gum disease often experience teeth shifting, gum pockets, teeth misalignment, loose teeth and even tooth loss.
